Kate Pringle
Kate believes deeply in the importance of community. An accomplished attorney, Kate has used her professional experience to assist local and national boards. Kate also gives her time as a volunteer in community organizations throughout Pelham.
Kate served on the Board of Sessions of Huguenot Memorial Church, and she has been a longtime member of the Church’s personnel committee and the regional presbytery personnel committee. She was a director of the Pelham Art Center and served as Vice Chair of the board. She serves on the Pelham School District Community Outreach and Advocacy Committee. And she is a District Leader with the Pelham Democrats. Kate helps run the annual Huguenot Charitable Christmas Tree sale, ran the Huguenot Hoops basketball program, and regularly volunteers with Thanksgiving in a Box, Hope Soup Kitchen, and Amplify (supporting PMHS science research students).
Nationally, Kate served for the past nine years as a director of Bread for the World, a leading policy and advocacy organization seeking to end hunger in the United States and around the world. She recently completed a three-year term as Board Chair, during which she oversaw major changes in the Bread leadership and an expansion of its national membership. She is also an advisor to the Cipalo Village School and Clinic in Cipalo Zambia, where she and her family volunteered this past summer.
A litigation partner for more than twenty years at Friedman Kaplan Adelman & Robbins LLP, Kate represents clients in matters involving commercial, securities, real estate, and constitutional law. She previously served as General Counsel to the Firm and continues to advise on matters of legal ethics. Kate received her law degree from Georgetown University, where she was elected Editor in Chief of the Georgetown Law Review, and she clerked on the Federal Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She also holds a BA in political science from American University.
Kate and her husband, John McCormick, feel so fortunate to have centered their family life in Pelham Manor. They have raised three children from Huguenot Preschool through Pelham Memorial High School. Their oldest, Matthew, is now in college, while their two younger children, Lindsay and Sean, are a sophomore and senior in high school. Kate is a passionate gardener, and she and her family love playing tennis and hiking with their dog.
Mark Cardwell
A Pelham Manor resident for over 13 years, Mark has a deep record of service to the community.
Mark has served as a volunteer firefighter in the Manor for over 10 years, earning volunteer of the year in 2018, and is currently Vice President of the company.
He has also volunteered with Mamaroneck EMS for more than eight years, on the frontlines as an EMT throughout the height of the pandemic, and is currently serving on the organization’s board of directors.
Mark also served as Assistant Scoutmaster and board member in Pelham’s Scout Troop 1, where, among other accomplishments, he led a group of boys at the week-long Philmont, New Mexico adventure camp.
He also served as a food rescue volunteer with County Harvest.
Professionally, Mark has most recently worked as an executive at a non-profit research center and has previously served as a Deputy Commissioner in New York City government and as a senior advisor at the U.S. Agency for International Development. He has also held leadership roles at the United Nations, ABC, and The Associated Press.
Mark has a B.S. from Boston University and M.S. from Columbia University.
Mark is also a long-time rower and member of the Pelham Community Rowing Association.
He is married to Margaret, a special education teacher in New York City schools who previously worked in a special education classroom at Colonial School. They are the parents of Sam and Jack, who both graduated from PMHS.
